Singapore Math Level 6 Curriculum Review

Singapore Level 6, like the rest of their curriculum, is divided into semesters – 6A and 6B. I have very mixed feelings about level 6. There are a number of new concepts presented to prepare the student for Pre-Algebra. As with most things Singapore, they are presented in a logical and engaging manner. As with the rest of the Singapore Primary Mathematics curriculum, Level 5 is divided into 2 semesters – 5A and 51B. We used the text book, the workbook, and the Intensive Practice book. With a minor exception, I was very pleased with this level. If you read my review of Singapore Math Level 4, you will remember that I was not thrilled with the section on fractions. Singapore Math Level 4 Curriculum Review

Singapore Math level 4 is divided into 2 semesters – 4A and 4B. To say I am a big fan of Singapore math would be an understatement. As with level 3, concepts are presented in a logical manner allowing more complex skills to seem simple. Level 4 builds the foundation upon which the students higher level math is built. Skills such as factoring and the measurement of angles is introduced all while reinforcing previous concepts. There was one area in which level 4 fell short – fractions. Read more….

I was very quickly surprised by how easy the lessons were to teach and by how rapidly my son understood the concepts presented. I very quickly became a fan of Singapore Math. The concepts are presented in such a way that complex material is made to seem very simple. We loved this curriculum. In addition to the colorful pages, this math curriculum kept our children engaged. The books are divided into 2 semesters – 2A and 21B. Additionally, I purchased the Home Instructor Guide so that I could provide continuity from level 1 to level 2. We read the textbook explanations and worked the textbook problems together. Earlybird Kindergarten Math is the perfect curriculum for new math students! There are wonderful illustrations and very clear instructions. Our little ones loved this curriculum. Like the other Singapore levels, Kindergarten Math is divided into 2 semesters – 2A and 2B. The lessons are short, informative, and fun. We found that the format and concepts introduced in this level, set our kids up for success.Read more….
